How Does Silicone Hydrophobic Powder Work?
After the mortar with silicone hydrophobic powder added is mixed with water, the protective colloidal shell of the silicone hydrophobic agent dissolves rapidly in water and releases the encapsulated organosilanes, which are re-dispersed into water;
The hydrophilic organic functional groups in silane hydrolyze to form highly reactive silanol groups；
The silanol groups react irreversibly with the hydroxyl groups in cement hydration products to form a chemical bond;
The chemically cross-linked silane is firmly fixed on the surface of the pore wall in the cement mortar, and the hydrophilic organic functional groups are oriented to the outside of the pore wall, which makes the pore surface hydrophobic, and the hardened mortar has a hydrophobic effect.
